project Details

Bloom is an interactive tabletop device that facilitates being present in the moment as you gather with friends. This device supports groups of up to six people and is created to address the lack of meaningful social interactions between emerging adults. This device is created by a small group of three people. My contribution spans from ideation to coding and building the prototype.

Overview

Emerging adults in today’s world face a major challenge as a result of widespread smartphone use: a decline in meaningful in-person social interactions. Bloom, a device created to address the lack of meaningful social interactions between emerging adults and trigger more positive social experiences. Bloom showcases the potential to contribute to existing knowledge of how to best use Positive Emotion Regulation (PER) strategies within one prototype for the improvement of subjective well-being. It specifically aims to shed light on whether combining various PER techniques into a single prototype represents a promising direction for upcoming design projects.
